Early Childhood Development (ECD)

Early Childhood Development (ECD) plays an important role in the life and development of an individual. In these critical stages there are more children in the Lobamba Lomdzala Inkhundla than could ever be covered by the reach of the Moya Centre and the Preschools at Ngodini and Mphofane. To address the needs of the young population, the Moya Centre created Kids Clubs in the Lobamba Lomdzala area. Formed in 2013, there are eleven Caregivers that run seven Kids Clubs in the community that each meet twice a week that teach life skills such as social behavior, environmental safety, health, emotional development, and road safety to children that cannot attend a Preschool for one reason or another. The Kids Clubs serve as:

  • Hubs of connectivity for children in the area that may not have received ECD care without the help of the Moya Centre
  • Meeting places for parents of young children to form a community centered on the social well-being of  their children
  • A means for the Caregivers to penetrate deeper into the community and discover where they are needed most
