The first leg of the Malkerns Valley Rotary Club, was hosted at the Centre this past weekend. 40 Teenagers ranging from the ages of 14-16 came together to learn about first aid, fire safety, public speaking and lifeskills. The Camp is held every year over a period of two months with both pre-teenagers and teenagers. This year, the camp was sponsored by Value Auto Parts who also came to facilitate the Camp in collaboration with the Malkerns Valley Rotary Club.
King Terry, artist and motivational speaker engaged the campers on the importance of making the right choices in life, self confidence and working hard towards your goals. The camp finished off with a girl and boy talk, where they were split into two groups and intimate topics were discussed. Teenagers were encouraged to create strong relationships so that they can support each other through life. Delicious meals from our Moya Kitchen kept all participants and facilitators fed and in high spirit throughout the weekend. The next leg of the Camp will be held in mid October for pree-teens. We are grateful to the Malkerns Valley Rotary Camp for always keeping our young people in mind.
